  • Windows XP Service Pack 2

Application Support

Microsoft has an update for the following version of Outlook:

  • Outlook 2003, Outlook XP (2002), Outlook 2000

This utility will allow you to update your personal calendar and shared calendars to adjust appointments that have been shifted by one hour after the Windows XP SP2 update has been applied.

Overview of Procedure

  1. Ensure that Windows XP SP2 is applied to all XP workstations.

  2. Instruct users to check appointments on local and shared calendars during the Extended DST period and type the time in the subject line of the appointment. (such as, "Project brainstorming - 11:00 A.M. Central Time").

  3. For new meetings created during the extended DST period, instruct users to include the time of the meeting in the e-mail request so that invitees can double check the correct meeting time (such as, "Project brainstorming - 11:00 A.M. Central Time").

  4. Instruct users to Print out local and calendars for the Extended DST period before any updates are applied to their machines.

  5. Patch the Servers, Workstations, and run tools to update appointments on local and public calendars.  The order in which the updates are applied as well as the timeframe in which they are deployed is critical to the success of the DST patching process.
