Microsoft has released a new Creators Update for Windows 10, which is analogous to a Service Pack in previous versions of Windows and is released bi-annually in the spring and fall. This is a major Windows update, and as such there is a risk of some of your software not working following the update.

If you are not a Comprehensive Care client, or are not subscribed to our Patch Management service, you need to understand the implications of this Creators Update. Microsoft will automatically push the update to your PCs, and this can cause problems in your business if you are not prepared for it.

For example, we’ve found that Trend Micro antivirus will cause your PCs to crash following the Creators Update, if your in-house Trend Micro antivirus is not brought completely up to date first. We’ve also found that line-of-business software applications can sometimes not work following a Creators Update. We’ve had printers and scanners stop working, at least until a new compatible driver is available.

Here’s the problem – you won’t know this update has affected your computer until the update has already installed itself. Worse, if the Creators Update installs itself, often your only recourse is to reinstall Windows from scratch! This is downtime no business can afford!

The Computer Center can help you prevent this Creators Update from becoming a major headache. Here’s how:

– Contact the TCC Help Desk to have us perform a network assessment. We can take a look at your environment and recommend the best way to address potential problems with this and future Creators Updates.

– Subscribe to our Patch Management service! Since we control installation of Windows Updates, we will block the Creators Update from installing until your network is ready to accept it. As a bonus, you have the peace of mind that your PCs stay up to date with Windows Updates AND 3rd party software updates, helping keep your network secure.

– Talk to a TCC representative about our Comprehensive Care service. With Comprehensive Care, we worry about issues like the Creators Update for you, so you don’t have to! You get a network that “just works” for a flat monthly payment.
