Artificial Intelligence, also known as AI, is machine learning. The field of computer science studies the possibilities of AI to solve problems and perform pattern recognition. Artificial Intelligence goes beyond science fiction into the modern-day advanced computer science. AI collects and extracts data to be analyzed making it useful to organizations. More and more businesses are beginning to utilize AI in their daily activities.
Professor Hawking said that primitive forms of artificial intelligence developed so far have already proved very useful, but he feared the consequences of creating something that can match or surpass humans.
“It would take off on its own, and re-design itself at an ever-increasing rate. Humans, who are limited by slow biological evolution, couldn’t compete and would be superseded”. -Stephen Hawking
Tesla’s self-driving cars, for example, can drive themselves under certain conditions but still needs humans to monitor the roadway and surroundings to safely take control when needed. However, humans are over-trusting the technology.
AI is just in its infancy and, while growing, can be useful for businesses. Amazon.com is one company that is building a lot of its business on machine learning-based systems to help improve its customer experience while optimizing its logistic speed and quality.
Microsoft uses AI technology in programs like by recommending three short message responses to email messages, allowing the receiver to reply quickly to an email message with just a couple of clicks.
